Shares in the Canadian company Aurora Cannabis, Canada's largest cannabis producer were up this week, helped in part by the news coming out of Mexico.

Mexico's lower house has passed a bill that will legalise cannabis for recreational use. If passed by the upper house, which is expected Mexico would join Canada and Uruguay in a small but growing list of countries that have legalized ma*****na in the Americas.

This will help continue the momentum within the US as the bill to legalise cannabis on a federal level is currently being discussed.

The UK is a long way behind on this issue but with the public opinion shifting it will only be a matter of time before we catch up.

The Chancellor made his announcement today on the spring budget and in it he set out the new PAYE tax allowances for 2021/22.

For 2019/20
Personal allowance £12,500 0%
Basic rate £12,501- £50,000 20%
Higher rate £50,001- £150,000 40%
Additional rate - Over £150,000 45%

For 2021/22
Personal allowance £12,570 0%
Basic rate £12,571- £50,270 20%
Higher rate £50,271- £150,000 40%
Additional rate - Over £150,000 45%

Yes the personal allowance and basic rate of income tax has gone up, however, it will be frozen until 2026.

Well, what does this mean?

With the Chancellor deciding to freeze the personal allowance and basic rate band for the next five year means an individual’s net pay will remain unaffected by tax but the corroding effect of inflation over the next five years will be left to run rampant, particularly if inflation creeps up to the Bank of England’s target rate of 2%.

This is a tax increase in all but name and when compounded over five years, it will be a very costly one for the average taxpayer.

The devil is indeed in the detail.

Everybody would agree, we all want what is the best for our children.

We want them to be safe, to be happy, to get a good job.

All this is spoken about.

But what about their financial wellbeing or their furure children's wellbeing? And so on.

In my view this a factor of life that largely gets forgotten about, why is that?

In part, perhaps, it is because for some these time scales seem so far away, 10 years, 20 years even 50 years in the future.

Now there are many reasons for this, some obvious (families just managing to feed their children day-to-day), others not so much (a general lack of financial capability within the community).

But this doesn't need to be the case!

Make decisions today that your great-grandchildren will thank you for!

Some more positive news, this time coming out of the University of Queensland.

Research by the University of Queensland has found CBD, the main non-psychoactive component of w**d, can kill superbugs that have developed resistance to current antibiotics.

The findings have been hailed as a medical breakthrough, given that the UN have warned drug-resistant diseases could kill 10million people per year by 2050 unless a solution is found.

With the time scale of 5 to 10 years being more widely excepted the prospect of helping thousands if not millions of people becomes ever closer.

Interest is increasingly growing within the medical cannabis industry

The greater the interest, the greater the investment opportunities.

It's been a busy year so far for the medical cannabis sector, now with a third about to go public on the London Stock exchange. Cellular goods will make its IPO as of tomorrow, Friday 26th February 2021.

It has created a bit of a buzz helped in part with David Beckham's DB venture company owning a 5% state in the company.

Cellular goods is a london based synthetic cannabinoid company which makes pain relief and wellbeing products.

It's still very early days but with interest growing with in this sector it can be only a matter of time before the government starts the public conversation.

SYNTHETIC cannabinoid company Cellular Goods has seen 13 applications for each one of the 260 million shares on offer when it officially launches on the London Stock Exchange.

Good news for any Apple shareholders out there. A vote that was passed today to increase dividends payment per quarter.

Apple shareholders on Tuesday voted to approve compensation for Apple executives, including up to 1 million shares of stock for Tim Cook by 2025.
