VAT Threshold Breach & HMRC Penalties

If your business has hit the VAT threshold (£90,000) and you haven’t told HMRC, that’s not something that gets brushed under the carpet.

**This also applies to Sole Traders**

HMRC can backdate your VAT, add interest, and apply penalties based on how late you were — and how much they think you tried to hide.

Here’s what that looks like in

(1) 9months or less late: 5% of the net VAT due.

(2) 9 to 18 months late: 10% of the net VAT due.

(3) More than 18 months late: 15% of the net VAT due.

Minimum penalty: £50, even if the calculated percentage is lower or no net VAT is due.

We love our business and everyone who continues to support us.

As many of you know, we took over the business 3 years ago and during that time introduced Bubble Tea, then we joined Just Eat and more recently Deliveroo and Uber Eats. We are constantly trying to keep the shop of interest to everyone by introducing new ideas, for instance our Breakfast Flatbreads, Breakfast Wraps, Pork Crunch and Waffles. We do have a couple of new ideas in the pipeline which will be coming soon.

We are very proud of our staff who work to a high standard to help us achieve our 5-Star food hygiene rating.

At Ermi’s we like to join in with local activities such as Rik Mayall Comedy Festivals and Bike Nights supplying pork baguettes and also attend the local festivals with our Bubble Tea Stall.

Since our announcement of meals for the community, we have been inundated with enquiries and our diary is filling up with daily meals.
