Is your income received gross of tax and you're a UK resident?

In the first instance, this needs declaring to the UK tax office via Self-Assessment. Just because you work on a ship doesn't automatically qualify you for tax free earnings. You have to meet certain criteria of the Seafarer's Earnings Deduction allowance to qualify for this.

Here at SK Tax, we have over 40 years experience in the SED and will guide you through the process of qualifying for the seafaring allowance where possible.
