🚗 Childminders – are you still using the mileage rate on your tax return?

The HMRC mileage rate hasn’t increased in years… meanwhile petrol, insurance and repair costs have soared.

If you use your car a lot for childminding, Capital Allowances could save you FAR more tax than mileage claims.

After adjusting for personal use, you may be able to claim:
✔ Petrol & diesel
✔ Insurance
✔ Repairs & servicing
✔ Breakdown cover / roadside assistance
✔ Road tax
✔ Finance interest costs
✔ And depreciation through capital allowances

I’ll calculate everything for you so you can still complete the rest of your own tax return.

💷 Fees (also tax deductible):
• £75 for the first year (or any year you change vehicle)
• £50 for following years

Simple, affordable and often saves childminders hundreds in tax.

Message me to see if Capital Allowances would work better for you. Note you can only change method when you change your vehicle.

👶✨ Childminders + Making Tax Digital = Chaos incoming…

You’re amazing at looking after tiny humans — but HMRC suddenly expects you to understand capital allowances, cash basis, MTD rules, and about 47 things no one told you about.

Meanwhile you’re here thinking:
“I just want to run my childcare business… not become an accountant.”

Receipts in a drawer.
Spreadsheets you don’t trust.
And now HMRC wants it all digital?!

Relax. I help childminders make sense of all the confusing bits —
what you can claim, how cash basis actually works, and how to get MTD-ready without spending hours tearing your hair out during nap time. 😅. If you can send a what’s app pic, i can do the rest.

I can get your books organised, simple, and stress-free so you can focus on the kids, not the tax jargon.

Message me for more information on how I can help.

How to set up Amazon Business (UK) and keep Prime free delivery

For a UK sole trader

Step 1: Create your Amazon Business account (UK)
1. Go to: https://business.amazon.co.uk
2. Click Create a free account
3. Sign in using your existing Amazon account
(Use the same email you use for Amazon Prime)

Step 2: Enter your business details (copy-paste guide)

Business name:

Your trading name (or your own name if you trade as yourself)

Business type:

Sole trader

Business address:

Your business address (home address is fine)

Phone number:

Your mobile number

Business email:

Same email as your Amazon Prime account (recommended)

Submit and verify when prompted (usually instant or email).

Step 3: Link your personal Amazon Prime (free delivery)

If you used the same email, Prime usually links automatically.

To check or link manually:
1. Go to Amazon Business
2. Click Account → Account Settings
3. Select Business Prime
4. Choose Use my existing Amazon Prime membership

✅ This keeps:
• Free UK delivery
• Prime-eligible items
• Fast shipping

💡 As a sole trader (one user), you do NOT need to pay for Business Prime.

Step 4: Keep business and personal shopping separate

(Optional but recommended)
1. Go to Account Settings
2. Turn on Business-only shopping
3. Add a separate payment card for business purchases
4. Set your default business delivery address

Step 5: VAT (only if registered)

If you’re VAT-registered:
1. Go to Account Settings → VAT Settings
2. Enter your UK VAT number
3. Amazon will automatically create VAT invoices

If you’re not VAT-registered, skip this step.

What you get as a UK sole trader
• Free Amazon Business account
• Prime free delivery (linked to personal Prime)
• Business-only pricing & bulk discounts
• Proper VAT invoices (if applicable)
• Easier bookkeeping for HMRC

Important UK note
• Personal Prime benefits apply only to you
• If you add extra users later, Amazon will require Business Prime (paid)

We can then set up a fetch invoice from the app we use for your bookkeeping so you won’t have to worry about sending these to me at the end of the month.

Amazon Business combines the selection, convenience, and value of Amazon with features that help improve business purchasing.
