June is here.

A fresh month. A clean slate. A genuine opportunity to step back and ask yourself: where do you want your business to be by the time summer is over?

For too many business owners, that question gets buried under financial stress, compliance deadlines, and the nagging feeling that someone else has things more together than they do.

Imagine instead waking up in June knowing your books are in order, your tax planning is working for you, and you have a proactive team watching over your finances who catches problems before they become problems.

That is the difference Fortis Accountancy makes for our clients every single day.

If a new month feels like the right moment to take back control and finally focus on growing what matters, we are ready to help.

Let's make June the month things click into place. Get in touch and let's talk.

Most people think accounting is simply tracking what comes in and what goes out. And while that is part of the picture, it is only the very beginning.

Accounting is a full process, a structured cycle designed to give you clarity, control, and confidence over your finances. It involves:

- Recording every financial transaction accurately
- Classifying those transactions into meaningful categories
- Summarising raw data into clear financial statements
- Analysing what the numbers actually mean
- Interpreting trends, risks, and opportunities
- Communicating insights that support better decisions

This is why accounting is not the same as bookkeeping. Bookkeeping is one part of the process. Accounting is the whole system.

At Fortis Accountancy, we don't just "do your books." We manage your financial information in a way that supports better decision-making, stronger cashflow control, clearer tax planning, improved profitability, and long-term business stability.

We don't just record your numbers. We help you understand them. And when you understand your numbers, you can run your business with confidence.

Ready to experience the difference? Let's talk.

Do you know which tax band you are in?

Not just the number on your bill. Not just the amount you are told to pay. But the actual reason behind it — and what it really means for you and your business.

Imagine sitting down with your accountant and walking away genuinely understanding your finances. Knowing which band you fall into, why you are there, and how it affects the decisions you make every single day. That is a completely different experience from simply being handed a figure and told when to pay it.

Here is something many business owners are never told: there are different tax bands with different rates, and knowing which one applies to you is not just an admin detail. It shapes how you plan, how you spend, and how confidently you grow.

And did you know that interest earned on your savings could also be taxable? It is one of those quieter details that can catch even the most diligent business owner off guard — not through any fault of their own, but simply because nobody explained it.

At Fortis Accountancy, we believe you deserve to understand your own financial picture. We do not just hand you the numbers and tell you what to pay. We take the time to explain what we do and why, so that you feel informed, confident, and in control — not just compliant.

Your finances should make sense to you. That is what a true financial partner looks like.

If you are ready to go beyond the numbers, let's talk.

Big news if you use your car or van for business travel.

For the first time in 15 years, HMRC has increased the Approved Mileage Allowance Payment rate for cars and vans, from 45p per mile to 55p per mile.

That is a significant jump, and it could make a real difference to what you claim back or what you reimburse your team.

Here is what has changed:
- Cars and vans: 45p per mile up to 10,000 miles (previously 45p), now 55p per mile
- Motorcycles: unchanged
- This applies to employees using personal vehicles for business trips

If you are self-employed, a contractor, or run a business where your team covers distances in their own vehicles, now is the time to make sure your mileage records are accurate and your claims are up to date.

This is money you are entitled to. We want to make sure you are not leaving any of it on the table.

Not sure how this affects you? Let's talk. Fortis Accountancy is here to help you make the most of every allowance available to you.
