🚨 Important update for employers 🚨

There is now less than a year to go before it becomes mandatory for employers to payroll most Benefits-in-Kind (BiKs).

From 6 April 2027, businesses will need to report and pay Income Tax and National Insurance on benefits such as company cars, private medical insurance and gym memberships through payroll in real time, replacing the current P11D year-end reporting process.

With over 3.5 million employees receiving taxable benefits, this is a significant change that could impact payroll systems, processes and compliance requirements for many businesses.

Preparing early can help avoid errors, penalties and unnecessary stress when the new rules come into force.

Can you claim VAT back on a car you use personally too? 🚗

It’s a question we hear all the time and the answer is usually no.

If your car is used for any personal journeys (even just driving home), HMRC generally won’t allow you to reclaim VAT on the purchase.

Here’s a simple overview 👇
• Buying → ❌ VAT usually blocked
• Leasing → ✔️ You can often claim 50% VAT
• Running costs → ✔️ Usually reclaimable
• Fuel → Depends on how you handle it

Only cars used entirely for business may qualify for full VAT recovery.

It’s a tricky area, and easy to get wrong.
