π¨ Companies House is going digital. Is your business ready for April 2028?
The ECCTA reforms are the biggest shake-up to Companies House in over 180 years, and they're already underway.
From 18 November 2025, identity verification became mandatory for new directors and PSCs, with existing directors required to verify by November 2026.
By April 2028, digital filing becomes the standard, accounts must be filed using approved software, and paper filing is on its way out.
What this means for directors:
β
Greater personal responsibility for accuracy
β
Tighter scrutiny of accounts and filings
β
Less room to correct errors after submission
How to prepare now:
β
Verify director and PSC identities
β
Keep your Companies House records accurate
β
Move away from paper-based processes
β
