🤔 Many business owners spend hours trying to save money by doing their own accounts.

But what if those hours were spent finding new customers, serving existing clients or growing the business?

Your time is one of your most valuable assets.

Sometimes the cheapest option isn't the most profitable option.

Ask yourself:

❓ What is one hour of your time worth?

If you're spending evenings battling spreadsheets instead of growing your business, it might be time for support.

📊 Many business owners check their bank balance but rarely track the numbers that really matter.

These are the 3 numbers you should know every month:

1️⃣ Revenue
2️⃣ Profit
3️⃣ Cash Available

Revenue shows what you're bringing in.

Profit shows what's actually left after expenses.

Cash flow determines whether you can pay bills, wages and invest in growth.

A profitable business can still run into trouble if cash flow isn't managed properly.

Understanding these numbers puts you in control and helps you make better business decisions.

💷 One of the biggest mistakes we see small business owners make is missing out on legitimate tax-saving opportunities.

From home office expenses and mileage claims to software subscriptions and professional memberships, many businesses are paying more tax simply because they're not claiming everything they're entitled to.

A quick review of your expenses could save hundreds – sometimes thousands – over the course of a year.

✅ Review your business expenses monthly
✅ Keep digital copies of receipts
✅ Don't leave bookkeeping until year-end

Small habits today can lead to significant savings tomorrow.

Need help making sure you're claiming everything you're entitled to? Taxave is here to help.

⚠️ Just under 3 weeks to go until the P60 deadline — have you issued yours?

As an employer, you must give every eligible employee their P60 by 31st May 2026. This is a legal requirement, and failing to meet it can lead to unwanted attention from HMRC.

If you haven't started yet, now is the time. Here's a quick action plan:

📌 Step 1: Confirm which employees were on your payroll on 5th April
📌 Step 2: Ensure payroll figures for 2025/26 are correct and finalised
📌 Step 3: Issue P60s — digitally or on paper, either is fine
📌 Step 4: File a copy for your records

Need a hand? Our payroll team at Taxave handles all of this for our clients — so they never have to worry about missing a deadline.

Every year, thousands of self-employed people in the UK overpay tax — simply because they don't claim all the expenses they're entitled to. 😮

Here are some commonly missed business expenses:

📱 Work-related phone and broadband costs
🚗 Mileage and travel expenses (including public transport)
🏠 Working from home costs (a proportion of bills)
📚 Professional development and subscriptions
💻 Equipment, software, and technology
☕ Meals when travelling for work (within HMRC guidelines)
📣 Marketing, advertising, and website costs

Every legitimate expense you claim reduces your taxable profit — which means less tax. It's that simple.

Not sure what you can and can't claim? That's exactly where Taxave comes in. We'll review your expenses and make sure you're not leaving money on the table. 💷

It's May — which means the P60 countdown is officially on! ⏰

If you're an employer, you're legally required to provide a P60 to every employee who was in your employment on 5th April 2026 by 31st May 2026.

📋 Quick P60 checklist:
✅ Check your payroll records are up to date
✅ Verify each employee's total pay and tax for 2025/26
✅ Issue P60s digitally or in paper format
✅ Keep copies for your own records

Think of it this way — your employees rely on this document. Getting it right and on time shows you're a great employer, and it keeps HMRC happy too. Win-win! 🙌

Not confident handling your payroll in-house? Let Taxave take it off your plate completely.

A friendly reminder for all employers — the P60 deadline is just around the corner! 📋

⏳ You have until 31st May 2026 to issue P60s to all employees who were on your payroll on 5th April 2026.

A P60 is a vital document that summarises each employee's total pay and tax deductions for the 2025/26 tax year. Your employees need it for:
→ Self Assessment tax returns
→ Mortgage and loan applications
→ Tax refund claims

Failing to issue P60s on time can result in penalties from HMRC — so don't let it slip through the net!

If you need support with your payroll or P60 process, Taxave is here to help. We take care of your compliance so you can focus on running your business.

VAT registration — it's one of the most common questions we get asked. And the answer isn't always as simple as it seems! 📋

The basics:
→ You must register for VAT if your taxable turnover exceeds the current VAT threshold in any 12-month rolling period
→ You can register voluntarily even if you're below the threshold
→ Once registered, you'll need to submit VAT returns (usually quarterly)

But did you know that VAT registration can actually benefit some businesses?

✅ You can reclaim VAT on eligible business purchases
✅ It can improve your credibility with larger clients and suppliers
✅ With the Flat Rate Scheme, some businesses pay less VAT than they collect

Not sure whether you should register — or whether you're already approaching the threshold? We can help you work it out and ensure everything is handled correctly.
