As part of its Q2 funding round, the St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation has awarded £90,000 over three years to Meningitis Now to strengthen support for men affected by meningitis.

Meningitis Now is a national charity that helps people rebuild their lives through emotional, practical and financial support following meningitis.

This funding will support a new Community Support Officer (Men's Worker) role, providing tailored assistance to men affected by meningitis, including survivors, carers and those who have been bereaved. The role will also help develop male-focused peer networks and encourage more men to access the charity's services.

The need is clear. Around 30% of people using Meningitis Now's services are men and evidence shows they are often less likely to seek help despite experiencing significant mental health challenges.

Through this role, Meningitis Now will address the unique impact meningitis can have on men's mental health, providing opportunities for people to connect with others who have shared similar experiences.

The SJP Charitable Foundation is proud to support this important work and help ensure more men affected by meningitis can access the help they need.

Well done to the team at Meningitis Now. We look forward to seeing the impact of this funding in the years ahead.

As part of its Q2 funding round, the St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation has awarded £90,000 over 3 years to bigmoose through its Mental Health Support funding theme.

Access to timely mental health support can make a life-changing difference, yet many people still struggle to get help before reaching crisis point.

Founded in Wales in 2018, bigmoose is tackling this challenge through its First Step Project, a rapid-access therapy model designed to provide early intervention and remove barriers to support.

This funding will help support a Referral Lead role and provide therapy sessions for beneficiaries, enabling more people to access the support they need when they need it most.

Supporting more than 300 people each month, bigmoose is helping bridge the gap between early distress and crisis, improving wellbeing outcomes and ensuring more people can access effective mental health support.

We’re proud to support a charity that is changing lives through early intervention and look forward to seeing the impact of this funding in the years ahead.
