Stepping into accountancy straight from sixth form, Charlie followed a different path - and it’s paying off!

He's now one of our Trainee Chartered Accountants and is thriving in his job. 🌟

Despite the pressure he felt to go to university, Charlie decided to join Seavor in 2022 and quickly discovered there’s much more to accountancy than 'just numbers'. He now works across everything from accounts and VAT to capital gains and management accounts, whilst studying for his ACA qualification! He loves the variety, the problem‑solving and the advisory side of helping clients make better decisions.

His journey proves there's no single way to build a rewarding career; what counts is curiosity, resilience and a willingness to learn.

In April this year, Statutory Sick Pay changed - the three unpaid 'waiting days' was scrapped, and every employee now qualifies for sick pay from day one.

SSP is now paid by employers themselves - unlike maternity or paternity leave, there’s no government reimbursement. This could increase payroll costs and widen eligibility, so as an employer its a good idea to update your contracts and absence policies, adjust budgets and payroll systems, so you're in control.
