GIFT TAX…

People tie themselves up in knots here.

If you want to gift your child £100k - there is no implicit tax. No income tax for them. No ‘gift’ tax for you.

But how do those gifts interact with IHT, and do you need to sell assets to make them.

That’s where it’s a little more nuanced.

There’s something I notice about people at retirement…

They plan on taking income based on staying within the basic rate of tax band, or based on the 4% rule.

Heres my opinion:

Tax should not be driving your retirement spending plan.

Nor should the 4% rule.

Your GOALS should drive the plan.

STRATEGY: 2027 TAX CHANGES 🇬🇧

I’ve worked in finance for a decade.

And tax changes always happen.

And like clockwork, when the rules change, so does behaviour.

With the right plan in place, none of these changes need to be anywhere near as consequential as they’re made out to be.
