Are you missing out on pension tax relief? 💡

If you pay into a pension under a relief at source arrangement, basic rate tax relief is added automatically.

But for higher and additional rate taxpayers, the relief isn’t and many people never claim the difference.

For example:
£80 paid in -> £100 goes into your pension
But the additional relief often needs to be claimed separately through HMRC

It may feel like a small detail, but it will make a real difference, particularly around key thresholds like the £100,000.

🏇 What a Night at the Races!

What an incredible evening we had at our Charity Race Night at The Westgate Hall, Canterbury - with one clear goal at the heart of it all: supporting two truly inspiring charities.

Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, we’re proud to share that the event raised £7,098. This closes out our fundraising for the year where we've generated a total of over £11,000 to be shared between The Evie Dove Foundation and Kent Neuro Therapy Centre- two organisations doing amazing work in our community.

The night itself was full of energy, excitement and brilliant company, bringing together clients, colleagues, friends and family for a fantastic cause.

🚨 Scam Alert: HMRC Impersonation Calls on the Rise 🚨

We’ve recently seen a rise in reports of fraudulent phone calls claiming to be from HM Revenue and Customs.
These calls can sound convincing and often use threatening or urgent language to pressure you into taking immediate action.

Common examples include:
📞 Automated messages claiming HMRC is filing a lawsuit against you
📞 Requests to “press 1” to speak to a caseworker and make a payment
📞 Claims about National Insurance number fraud
📞 Offers of tax refunds in exchange for your bank or card details

Important: HMRC will never threaten arrest, demand immediate payment over the phone, or ask for your bank details in this way.

What should you do if you receive one of these calls?
✔️ Hang up immediately
✔️ Do not press any buttons or provide any personal details

When should you VAT register?

It’s a question we hear from business owners all the time - and the right timing can make a big difference.

Here’s what you need to know:
✅ Must register if VAT-taxable turnover exceeds £90,000
