We have now stepped in to the new MTD self assessment tax era. You have probably received a letter from HMRC if you had to be registered but if not and need to ask please contact us. We are here to help and have sent out the following email which might might help:


1. Turnover above £50k in 24/25 or 25/26 you will be expected to become making tax digital (MTD)
2. Self-employed/sole trader/property income or combination of any of those
3. Quarterly reporting to HMRC
4. Breakdown of all sales and expenses, no totals will be allowed as they will require a line by line transaction report with paperwork available
5. Hobbs Thomas costs begin at £25 + VAT per month this is for everyone with a turnover up to £100k and as that increases, will rise. I would be more than happy to discuss this with you and explain the process. this is additional to year end accounts and tax return
6. We will require your paperwork either monthly or quarterly

Self-assessment deadline is one week away! Because 31st falls on a Saturday they need to be done by the end of next Friday (30th) so if you need some help please drop us an email or message and we are happy to help get you over the line in time

With seven weeks until Christmas I thought I’d give a gentle nudge to anyone that hasn’t come to us yet for the 24/25 tax return to be completed. I always think it helps to give yourself some time before deadline. Please get in touch if you need some help!!

This comes in to place on the 18th November 2025. We will be sending out an email to all clients this will apply to and inform them of action that will need to be taken and how to do it.

Identity verification will be a legal requirement for all directors and people with significant control (PSC) from 18 November 2025. It will help make sure the people running companies are who they say they are.

We’ll be phasing this in over 12 months and we’re contacting companies with guidance on what to do and when.
