The choice to work less, stop work, or simply not cut back more than you want to.
The long lunches.
The weekends away.
The home improvements.

In next Friday’s Finance on Friday, Money Mentor Verity Brown will help you understand:

-how to find old pension pots
-how to check your State Pension forecast
-what to look at in contributions, charges and investment choices
-how career breaks and changing work patterns can affect pensions

It takes a few minutes, and it can help you understand what you may be entitled to later, whether there are any gaps in your National Insurance record, and whether this is something you need to look at more closely.

It is not the whole pension picture, but it is a good place to start.

Because your future income is unlikely to come from one place only. It may include:

State Pension
workplace pensions
personal pensions
ISAs or other savings
income from work, property or other sources

The more you understand now, the better questions you can ask.

In next week’s Finance on Friday, Money Mentor Verity Brown will be talking about what to check in your pension, why it matters, and how to start understanding what you currently have.

Boring?

Maybe...

But important? Absolutely.

It might not be the most thrilling thing to think about over lunch, but your pension can have a huge impact on the life your future self gets to live.

The long lunches.
The weekends away.
The home improvements.
The choice to work less, stop work, or simply not have to cut back more than you want to.

The gender wealth gap is real, and pensions are a big part of that conversation.

We need more women to understand what they have, what it is invested in, what it could look like when they retire, and what choices they can make now that may affect their future.

Because seeing pensions as a “tomorrow problem” can have consequences.

In our next Finance on Friday session, Money Mentor Verity Brown will be talking about pensions in plain English.

We’ll cover:

Finding old pension pots
Checking your State Pension forecast
Understanding workplace and personal pensions
Reviewing contributions, charges and investment choices
Knowing when guidance or regulated advice may be useful

World Earth Day is a good reminder that money is never just money.

For many women, the question is not just how to grow wealth. It is also what that money is supporting along the way.

That is where ESG and sustainable investing often come in.

Not because investing should be driven by trends or guilt. But because wanting your money to reflect your values is a perfectly reasonable place to start.

The tricky part is knowing what these labels actually mean in practice, and how to make informed decisions without getting lost in jargon.

If that is something you have been curious about, our blog on ESG and sustainable investing is a good place to begin.

And if you are newer to investing more broadly, we are also live this Friday 24 April at 12 noon for a 30-minute beginner-friendly webinar on getting started with investing.

No hype. No judgement. Just clear, practical guidance to help you understand your options.

There’s a reason investing is suddenly on more people’s radar.

From April 2027, the amount you can put into a Cash ISA will be capped at £12,000 a year (if you’re under 65) - even though the overall ISA allowance stays at £20,000.

Which means many women who have been saving consistently will need to start thinking about investing, whether they planned to or not.

But here’s the important part:

It does mean it’s worth understanding:

where investing fits alongside your savings
what actually makes sense for you
what a sensible first step looks like

That’s exactly what we’ll be covering in our next Finance on Friday.

And it’s not because they don’t care.

not knowing where to start
worrying about getting it wrong
feeling like it’s too complicated
