Why is Private Medical Insurance more important now than ever before?
Just over a year ago, I wanted to ensure that my family and the employees within the business were able to get the medical care they required without waiting on the NHS waiting lists.
I didn’t fully anticipate how much it would get used, as my staff are generally pretty young and healthy. As a company, we have used it 4 times for various reasons and each time we can't fault the service and the care received.
More recently my Daughter Taylor, who is 2, required a tonsillectomy. This proved to be problematic on the NHS due to her age. However, due to the scaring on her tonsils being the highest grade, we were placed on a 50 week waiting list.
I called Vitality, who are our Private medical provider, and within weeks we had a consultation with a highly recommended surgeon. Last week she had her tonsils removed at The Portland Hospital in London and the care was amazing. The surgeon checked on Taylor after the surgery and explained that her Tonsils were so badly infected her immune system would have been constantly fighting the infection. To think she would've had to wait almost a year to have them removed had we not had this insurance in place.
The NHS is a wonderful service, however with a record high of 7.1million people waiting for treatment, private medical insurance is more valuable than ever before.
