The last two months I have been gradually taking over the reins as Finance Manager for the charity SV2.

Katie Miles the outgoing Financial Controller has been amazing, creating a handover spreadsheet and guiding me through the process.

Katie was in the role for 21 years, so I have big boots to fill.

In true Strictly style I think I’ve found a ‘friend for life’. We are so similar it’s funny, even if we did giggle like schoolgirls at times ☺️

Feel the fear and do it anyway was the key phrase in my mind when I took part in the Trent 12K on Sunday.

I have a fear of deep water and drowning. Maybe it comes from listening to Kate Bush as a child 🤷🏻‍♀️

So when Hayden from MVH Triathlon Club suggested I take part, I thought what better way to celebrate turning 50 this year.

Turns out I actually preferred the deeper parts of the river as I got a little too intimate with the river bed and have bruises and scratches all over.

The nervous butterflies 🦋 only added to the experience.

Will I do it again? You bet I will.
