June done. 30 days. 30 posts. One campaign.

Thank you to the Accountants Therapy community โ€” for your support, your shares, your comments, and for being the kind of community that makes campaigns like this possible.

If you're reading this and you're not yet part of Accountants Therapy โ€” come and join a group of practitioners who genuinely support each other through the realities of practice life.

The petition runs until November. The bigger MTD waves are still ahead. Let's carry this momentum into July.

Last weekend of PaddyTime awareness month.

This month has been something special. Thank you to every single person who shared a post, signed the petition, tagged a colleague or simply kept the conversation going.

And if you haven't signed โ€” please do.

People ask me why I care so much about .

I care because I sit in practice every day and see the gap between how MTD looks on paper and how it looks in a client's inbox at 10pm.

And I care because of Accountants Therapy โ€” a community that reminded me I wasn't the only one seeing it, and that a group of people speaking up together is so much more powerful than one person doing it alone.

Thank you to that community. Genuinely.

Let me ask something directly.

What will it take before the 5-week MTD window gets reconsidered?

Will it require a wave of penalty notices? A spike in late filings? Public complaints from taxpayers who couldn't manage the timeline?

By that stage, confidence in the system may already have been damaged.

The profession is raising this now โ€” constructively, clearly, with evidence โ€” because that is exactly the right time to address it.

Sign and add your voice to that case.

I want to be honest about something.

I don't just look at as an accountant. I look at it as someone who cares about a tax system that works for everyone.

Taxpayers. Agents. Software vendors. HMRC. All interconnected. All affected by whether the MTD filing window is realistic or not.

The Accountants Therapy community has people from all corners of the profession contributing to this conversation. And collectively, we're saying the same thing: small adjustment, big improvement.

That message is worth amplifying.

Hereโ€™s an irony worth thinking about.

A tighter deadline is supposed to improve compliance. But if the deadline isnโ€™t workable for a significant number of taxpayers, the actual effect is more late submissions, more errors, more penalties.

Thatโ€™s the opposite of what MTD is designed to achieve.

A 3-month window reduces late filing risk, reduces error rates and reduces the penalty exposure that taxpayers and agents would otherwise face.

Better outcomes all round.

A genuine question and I'd love to hear from accountants and bookkeepers in the comments.

In your real experience, how realistic is a 5-week MTD window for your average client?

Not your most organised one. The average one, the one who sends records late, has queries that take a week to resolve, mixes personal and business expenses.

That real-world data is exactly what strengthens the case for .

So tell me, what does 5 weeks actually look like in your practice?

is about one thing: a constructive conversation.

Not opposition. Not obstruction. Honest dialogue about what's working and what needs adjusting.

Accountants Therapy has been at the centre of that conversation from the start. And it's a model I think the wider profession should follow, open, supportive, honest, and action-oriented.

If you've never looked up Accountants Therapy, now is a great time. A community that talks honestly about the pressures of practice and helps each other navigate them.

Happy Fatherโ€™s Day! ๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿป๐Ÿซถ

Its success won't be judged by submission speed.

It will be judged by whether it actually improves accuracy, reduces errors and helps taxpayers understand their obligations over time.

For that to happen, the foundations need to be right. And the foundation is the quarterly update โ€” data that is accurate enough to make the system meaningful.

Rush the foundation and the whole system suffers.

Get it right, and MTD has a real chance of delivering on its promise.
