A scam claiming to be from HMRC is currently doing the rounds, and it can look surprisingly convincing. 👀

Look out for messages that:
❌ Pressure you to act immediately
❌ Threaten penalties or legal action
❌ Ask for bank or personal details
❌ Include suspicious links
❌ Offer an unexpected refund or tax rebate

If you're unsure whether a message is genuine, don't respond or click the link. Check directly through your HMRC account or official HMRC contact details instead.

For the first time since 2011, HMRC has increased the tax-free mileage rate!

📈 From 45p → 55p per mile
📅 Backdated to 6 April 2026
🚗 Applies to the first 10,000 business miles
✅ Applies to employees AND the self-employed

That means more tax-free relief for every business mile you drive.

If you've already claimed mileage this tax year, it may be worth checking whether you're entitled to additional relief under the new rates.
