After 23 years of ANOTHER ANSWER Books and Accounts, Neil Bourhill and I have passed the baton to Nikolai Naylor. It is a very poignant moment for me - I started Another Answer on my dining room table with a small child in nursery, 'just doing a bit of bookkeeping' to earn some pocket money. 23 years later, with 7 team members we are very glad to be passing our thriving bookkeeping and accountancy practice on to Nikolai. The office in Bourne End will remain, with all the Team still supporting clients in the same way. The change will be in the added resources they will now have behind them to deliver an even better service to our clients.

If you run a Ltd company, or are thinking of starting one up, don't forget that CH fees are going up substantially from 1st Feb. Details in the comments below.

Don’t be an MTD deadline dancer 💃💃🕺🕺

If you need to sign up for MTD, do it early, not on 31 March with the other 800,000 people all trying at the same time. HMRC helplines will be overwhelmed, stress levels will high, and nothing gets fixed quickly at the last minute. A little prep now = a much calmer spring.

Yes, really… 4,409 people filed their UK tax return on Christmas Day in 2025. That’s turkey in one hand, HMRC login in the other. The deadline for your 2024–2025 Self Assessment is 31 January 2026 — don’t be a deadline dancer. Get it done early and start the New Year stress-free.
