From today, 19 June, every UK business that handles personal data needs a clear process for dealing with data protection complaints. It's part of the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, and it applies to businesses of all sizes, with no exemptions.
In plain English, people can now raise a data concern with you directly first, so you're expected to have a simple way to receive a complaint, acknowledge it, look into it and let the person know the outcome.
If you run a transport business or agency, it's worth a few minutes today to check you've got a process in place. The ICO has free, plain English guidance that walks you through the steps. And as always, if the admin side of your business feels like a lot, we're here to make it simpler.
