👏 Meet the finalists:
Shahiesta Iqbal
An Education Development Officer at Community Rail Lancashire who is connecting communities through rail, wellbeing, and inclusion. As the first South Asian Muslim woman in the UK to undertake this role, Shahiesta has inspired countless people to travel confidently, build independence, and access new opportunities. Her pioneering “Stations of Welcome” project in Accrington received the BBC Make a Difference Award in 2025.
Shigufta Khan
Chief Executive Officer of The Wish Centre, Shigufta has dedicated her career to supporting victims of domestic abuse and championing prevention, safety, and empowerment. Under her leadership, the charity has supported thousands of individuals and families across Lancashire while influencing policy and safeguarding practices both locally and nationally.
Mary Painter
A passionate Community History Librarian committed to preserving and celebrating local heritage. Through exhibitions, community projects, archives, and educational resources, Mary has helped connect people of all ages with the rich history of the area while creating a welcoming and inclusive space for learning and creativity.
Farzana 'Faz' Sidat
Former Head of Youth at IMO and a passionate advocate for young people and community development. Through mentoring, coaching, education, and youth programmes, Faz empowers young people to build confidence, develop skills, and reach their full potential while strengthening inclusion and community cohesion.
