This morning we are reflecting on a fantastic time had at the The Cambridgeshire County Show on Saturday, set in the grounds of the Abbots Ripton estate. Our team enjoyed a gloriously sunny day meeting and speaking to all who came to visit us.

What's more, our hook-a-duck proved a hit with winners scooping sweets, bubbles, balloons and piglet banks as prizes!!

Thank you to Strutt & Parker for late afternoon refreshments, to Glebe Farm Foods for the granola in exchange for chairs, and to the Cambridgeshire Young Farmers committee for putting on another great day!

We're looking forward to doing it all again in 2027 🤞

📢 BREAKING NEWS 📢

Two headline measures announced by the Government this week, intended to ease cost-of-living pressures, will affect families and businesses alike.

• Reimbursable mileage rates are increasing from 45p to 55p per mile for the first 10,000 miles, backdated to April 2026. A long-awaited change that many employees, contractors, and mobile workers will welcome. Self-employed individuals will be able to use the new rates in their 2026/27 tax return.

• The 'Great British Summer Savings' scheme will temporarily cut the rate of VAT from 20% to 5% on a range of eligible activities between 25 June to 1 September 2026. This will include things like children’s meals in restaurants, kid’s tickets to cinemas and theatres, and entry to a wide range of attractions.

Together, these measures represent an easing of cost pressures for both businesses and households; delivering fairer reimbursement for employees using personal vehicles for business travel, making activities more accessible and affordable for families across the UK during the summer holidays, and supporting businesses who rely on summer footfall.

Last week, we were pleased to host another successful Jubilee Shield Quiz Night, with our own Barry Jefferd returning as Quizmaster.

Our congratulations go to worthy winners NFU Mutual Bedfordshire for scooping the trophy!

We had a fantastic evening, and extend our thanks to all who took part - Satchells Estate Agents, Tollers Solicitors, Women In Business Network - WIBN Beds and Herts, Woburn Street Financial Planning, Machins Solicitors, HRJ Foreman Laws Solicitors, BTG Eddisons - and helped us to raise a fantastic amount of money for Happy Days Children's Charity.
