The advantages are that you keep your business expenses seperate from your personal expenses.You get your income paid in to it as well.
It’s easy to see if you are making a profit and your Accountant and HMRC will be much happier.

Making Tax Digital requires your accountant to analyse transactions in your Bank Account ( HMRC dont have access) 👍
They do not want to be looking at 100,s of transactions for food - Prize Guy - Amazon - Spar - Netflix etc.😎
A SEPERATE BUSINESS BANK ACCOUNTS makes it easier.👏
NIKE - Just Do it - NOW. Danske Bank are good locally - we use them.

Open a separate Business Bank Account and set up Accounting Software.
Tide offers Xero ( Starling and Monzo offer business Bank Accounts as well)
Your Accountant can access your Business Bank Account and submit a Tax Return every 3 months - Easy Peasy.

Even if you don’t have RECEIPTS - these expenses are acceptable to HMRC.

!!! A Wee Reminder - how to avoid HMRC Penalties !!!

A client asked me recently if he needed to submit a Tax Return even though he had not worked in 2025/26 ????

The answer is YES - even if you did not work or receive any taxable income you still need to submit a 2026/26 Tax Return.

This lets HMRC know that you are due to pay NO TAX - if you do not submit your Tax Return you get HMRC PENALTIES - quickly becoming £1600.

As NIKE say - JUST DO IT !!!!
