πŸ’Έ I have previously spoken about two different money personalities - spender and saver.

However a recent study in New Zealand πŸ‡³πŸ‡Ώ, that included 500 participants, has identified 5 different money personalities!

πŸ€”Which one are you?

🀯 A little illustration showing the impact of compound interest and why starting your investment journey early is important.

😟 Don’t worry if you are no longer in your 20s, the key is to start now and not wait another 5-10 years and miss out on the impact of compounding and growth.

βŒ›οΈEven if it is a small amount initially, get started and you will benefit from the impacting of compounding as it all adds up

πŸ“ˆ I have used an annual return of 8%, this is a rough estimate of the long term average return of the FTSE100 (which is an index made up of shares from the 100 biggest companies by market capitalisation on the London Stock Exchange).

πŸ€” But don’t forget this is the long term average average! Investments will go up and down and it is important to remain invested for a long period of time. Investing isn’t a get rich quick scheme!

πŸ’° An emergency fund should cover 3-6 months living expenses.

πŸ’° Its is for those unexpected changes, E.g. losing your job, car breaks down, when the boiler packs in πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«

πŸ’° Keep it in a separate savings account to your current account.

πŸ’° The purpose of an emergency fund? Peace of mind πŸ™Œ

Have you considered taking a policy out to protect your love ones?

A quick overview of what these products do:

2. Income Protection - pays a regular income payment if you are unable to work due to sickness or disability. πŸ’Έ
3. Accident/sickness/unemployment - pays a regular income payment for a set period of time. πŸ’°

🏦 The Bank of England has increased the base rate from 4.25% to 4.5%. This is the highest level since 2008 and the twelfth consecutive increase since December 2021. 🏦

🏠 If your mortgage is on a Standard Variable Rate (SVR) or is a tracker mortgage then is it likely that your mortgage costs will increase. 🏠

πŸ’° However, the increase in base rate is likely to benefit savers. It may take a few days before interest rates in bank accounts improve, but now could be a good time to consider switching your account. Keep an eye on best switching deals to make sure you take advantage of this increase. πŸ’°

πŸ’° National Teach your Children to Save Day πŸ’°

Saving money for a rainy day is something all parents should be teaching their children. From delayed gratification to setting and reaching goals, there are so many important lessons that kids learn from saving, and the long term benefits far outweigh any short term reward they may get from spending.

It's important to teach children about budgeting so they can understand how far their money can stretch, as well as why its often better to invest rather than splurge.

Children will take these positive habits into adulthood, leading them towards success later down the road.
