MTD for Sole Traders
Big changes are coming for sole traders!

Meet Lucy, a self-employed baker who’s used to doing her tax return once a year. From April 2026, that all changes - Making Tax Digital (MTD) means she’ll need to:
✅ Keep digital records
✅ Send quarterly updates to HMRC
✅ Use MTD-compatible software

I can hardly believe how quickly the time has flown. When I started this journey four years ago, I wasn’t one of those people who always dreamed of running their own business. Quite the opposite, actually. But life has a way of nudging us out of our comfort zones, and I’ve learned that’s where the real growth happens.

Running a business has been the craziest rollercoaster I’ve ever been on - full of excitement, pride, and happiness, but also plenty of fear and uncertainty. Each client brings new challenges, new lessons, and endless opportunities to learn.

Looking back, I now fully understand the saying: “Start now -you’ll never be more ready.”
You can’t possibly prepare for everything, and you’ll never know it all before you begin. But if you take that first step, you’ll find that knowledge and confidence come with experience.
