Well, we didn't top the quiz table but at least Tom snaffled a great prize in the raffle! A yummy afternoon tea . This year's annual Brain of Bath once again brought out the best in local businesses from across the city to raise money for . The total topped £25,000 for the homeless charity, so we'll take that as a win! P.S. Well done to the the actual winners, Deloitte.

£26bn in new taxes on the way

Income tax & NI thresholds frozen until 2030 → stealth tax on pay rises

Salary-sacrifice pensions hit from 2029 → higher NI costs

ISA allowance cut for under‑65s (£20k → £12k)

“Mansion tax” hits homes over £2m

Investment, dividend & rental income taxed more

Sugar tax expanded → bottled milkshakes & flavoured milks more expensive

This is the second year running we have sponsored the Positive Business Award and we really feel it's an important one to support. Last year’s winner Dave Southby, of Financial Planning, grew his business from a small team and made a huge difference — from school outreach to charity fundraising. Bath is back in business after the summer slow down, with the events calendar fit to burst as we head towards Christmas. Last night was one of the highlights, as an incredible crew of amateur models (many of them cancer survivers) took to a catwalk at to showcase the style on offer from some of our fantastic local independent retailers for the fabulous fashion show. This is event genuinely encapsulates everything that is best about this city. It is a grand collaboration between retail stores, public sector organisations and the wider business community who sponsor it, in order to support three amazing local charities and thank you to everyone who organised, supported it and took part. It was a great evening. Lets hope it becomes a long standing tradition.
