South Yorkshire Pensions Authority We are responsible for administering the Local Government Pension Scheme in South Yorkshire.

The Authority formally consists of 12 Elected Members nominated by the four South Yorkshire district councils. They act as quasi-trustees and have ultimate legal responsibility for the Fund and the services that we provide. Their priorities are to maximise pension fund investments, focus on the service we provide to fund members and to have a close relationship with the fund employers.

Salary: £47,738 - £51,928 (2026/27 pay award pending) plus: benefits and relocation support

South Yorkshire Pensions Authority (SYPA) has an exciting opportunity to join our friendly and forward-looking Governance and Corporate Services Team in Barnsley.

In this role, you will provide expert advice on governance, constitutional matters and regulatory compliance, helping to uphold the highest standards of corporate governance and ethical conduct.

You will lead services spanning corporate governance, democratic services, information governance, organisational resilience, complaints and appeals, and policy development. Working closely with colleagues across SYPA, you will help shape governance arrangements, drive continuous improvement and ensure the organisation remains responsive to an evolving legislative and regulatory landscape.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our friendly and forward-looking team here at South Yorkshire Pensions Authority on a fixed term basis. The Management Support Officer role sits in our highly collaborative Governance and Corporate Services team and involves a wide range of duties supporting the senior managers of the organisation.

Our ideal candidate will have:
✅ Level 3 qualification or equivalent; or able to evidence ability at an equivalent level
✅ Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and accurately in a range of situations
✅ Strong IT skills, including advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications such as Word, Outlook, Teams and PowerPoint.

What you’ll do:
✔️ Provide comprehensive and confidential administrative support to the organisation’s senior management team, including the Director and three Assistant Directors
✔️ Manage complex diaries using Microsoft Outlook, coordinating meetings and appointments while balancing competing priorities to maximise efficiency and effectiveness
✔️ Support the preparation of high-quality corporate documents and reports, including proofreading and formatting
✔️ Provide full meeting support, including arranging meetings, booking resources and more.
