Nobody tells you the hardest part of moving abroad isn’t the paperwork. It’s the quiet voice saying you should be further along by now. 🥲

Settled. Fluent. Surrounded by friends. Like everyone else apparently is.

But that voice is lying to all of us at once. The person who looks like they’ve got it figured out froze at the Bäckerei this morning too.

You’re not behind. You’re becoming. 🤍

💡🇩🇪 If you’ve ever tried renting an apartment, getting a phone contract, or setting up utilities in Germany, you’ve probably heard the word SCHUFA.

For many expats, it’s one of the most confusing parts of settling in Germany. Why does everyone ask for it? What’s actually in it? And can not having a SCHUFA make life harder?

We get it—it can feel overwhelming when nobody explains the basics.

That’s why we created this simple guide to break down what SCHUFA is, why it matters, and how it can affect your everyday life in Germany.

GERMANY this weekend: Two cities, two birthday parties, zero chill. 🎂🍰

Munich turns 868 this weekend and hands the entire Old Town over to street stages and Bavarian mayhem - all free.

Berlin’s Museum Island blows out 200 candles with light shows and open doors. The rest of the country? Also showing off.

So we rounded up the best of Munich, Berlin, Hamburg, Stuttgart and Frankfurt - your weekend basically plans itself. 👇
