Canada has programs specifically designed to reduce your monthly payment based on your income. The Repayment Assistance Plan can bring your payment down to $0/month if you qualify. And as of 2023, the federal government eliminated interest on Canada Student Loans entirely, meaning every dollar you pay goes directly to your balance.

You’re not stuck with the default. You just need to know what’s available.
