Looking forward to meet with some local special needs families at the Purple Pumpkin Party this Sunday, 25 October at the Epilepsy Toronto offices.
Always lovely to connect with other special needs families. These families are my ‘why’. Why I’m a special needs financial advisor and why I choose to prioritize them. Well, because everything else is hard enough for families like theirs, families like mine!

An RDSP is one of the most powerful tools to help save and plan for a loved one with a disability. It is the only registered account that offers matching grants.

$70,000 available in federal grants:

- For families above threshold income of $114,750 - 100% match up to $1,000 annually
- For families above threshold income of $114,750 - 350% match up to $3,500 annually, plus lifetime bonds of up to $20,000, without any contribution.

Projections show how an RDSP can grow with each level of matching grants.

Assumptions:
- RDSP start age: 10 years
- Annual contribution: $1,000
- Contribution up to: 59 years
- Return: 5% return annually

Thinking about buying your first home or condo? 🏡

The FHSA combines some of the best features of an RRSP and TFSA:
1. Tax-deductible contributions
2. Tax-free growth
3. Tax-free qualifying withdrawals for your first home

But timing matters. Unlike an RRSP, there is no 60-day grace period—your contribution generally needs to be made by December 31 to count for that tax year. The annual FHSA participation room is $8,000, up to a $40,000 lifetime limit.

I help Ontario families understand how an FHSA could fit into their home-buying plan—and what to do before year-end.

I had the pleasure of speaking with many dental professionals on Sunday about the importance of taking care of their financial health.

Our conversations focused on retirement savings, financial planning, and risk management, particularly the need to protect their greatest asset: their ability to earn an income.

Dental professionals, like many healthcare providers, dedicate their time and energy to caring for others. As a result, their own financial planning can sometimes take a back seat. The event was a valuable opportunity to remind them that certain areas of their financial lives can be outsourced to trusted professionals, allowing them to focus on what they do best.

A special thank you to Humania Insurance for sponsoring a door prize for the event participants.

If you’re a dental professional looking to learn more about disability insurance and the coverage options available to protect your income, feel free to connect with me.

Sometimes life gives you a second chance at the moments you thought you missed. ❤️

What once felt like a challenge has become a beautiful reminder to slow down, be present, and cherish the little things. Watching him grow, laugh, and discover the world has been its own kind of magic. ✨

For all special needs moms for whom motherhood is not what they expected, think of it as an opportunity to have your kids around for longer. More time to be present. 💙

“My kid takes longer to ‘grow up’. Secretly, that is sort of awesome.” — Rebecca Smith Masterson

To every mom navigating the do-over: you’re not alone.

Special needs kids hear you. They feel your encouragement. They notice when you believe in them, even when they don’t believe in themselves yet.

Choose to inspire confidence and see your belief move mountains. ❤️

What’s one thing that helps you feel more prepared for school meetings?

Special needs school advocacy is more than meetings. It’s preparation, emotions, follow-up, and a lot of invisible work. If you’re in this season, I hope you remember that your voice matters.

Your child is lucky to have you in their corner.
