Cloud North Bookkeeping & Tax Cloud North Bookkeeping & Tax helps small business owners in St. John’s and across NL with CPA-led bookkeeping, tax, and advisory. I’ve truly seen it all.

Gain clarity in your numbers and confidence in your business with Cloud North. My name is Alex Gamboa, founder of Cloud North Bookkeeping & Tax. I have over 10 years of experience in public accounting, starting my career working for a large national firm, moving to small firms, and even running my own firm prior to launching Cloud North. Over the years, I’ve gained diverse experience in external audits, internal audits, review engagements, compilation engagements, tax compliance and planning, advisory, and consulting. What I have enjoyed most is working directly with small business owners. I discovered this quickly when I co-founded my own firm, Gamboa & Holland LLP, in Kenora, ON. Owning my own business helped me relate to my clients who were also entrepreneurs. I developed a deep appreciation for what small business owners bring to the Canadian economy, and that motivated me to treat every client’s business as if it were my own. I launched Cloud North to bring this same passion to clients in a different way. By leveraging cloud technology, I help clients keep their financials clean, streamlined, and efficient. This means real-time financials every month so you can make real-time decisions for your business with confidence. I believe you can’t truly understand your business if you don’t understand the numbers. That’s why I focus on making financial information clear, accessible, and actionable, so your business can thrive, not just survive. With years of tax experience and completion of CPA Canada’s In-Depth Tax Program, I bring a specialized tax skillset that complements our bookkeeping services. Because I’m directly involved in my clients’ bookkeeping, I can provide the most accurate tax advisory possible, identifying issues early and uncovering strategic tax planning opportunities that align with your business goals. For me, being a trusted advisor goes far beyond bookkeeping and tax. It’s about building relationships, being available, and supporting clients when they need me most. I believe these relationships are the most important part of my work. I’m not only here for myself, I’m here to help small business owners succeed, build the life they want, and achieve balance. Born and raised in Kenora, ON, I now live in St. John’s, NL with my beautiful wife and two loving kids. When I’m not working with clients, you’ll find me spending time with my family, watching my kids grow, pretending I’m a decent golfer, or learning my way around the kitchen. My family is the most important thing to me and it’s a big reason why I started Cloud North. I know how much family matters to many small business owners, and I want to help you build the same balance I strive for in my own life. If my story and values resonate with you, I believe we’d be a great fit. Let’s set up a call and get to know each other! Handling tax deadlines like a pro: 🗓️📉

❌ The Avoidance Trap:

- Stashing CRA notices in a drawer and hoping the filing deadline extends itself 🙈

- Letting months of unfiled returns pile up because the backlog feels too big 😬

- Watching late penalties and interest quietly eat away at your cash flow 💸

✅ The Proactive Approach:

- Filing every return on time, every single year, regardless of your balance owing ☕

- Working with a professional to set up manageable payment arrangements if needed 🤝

- Entering tax season with total compliance and zero penalty anxiety 🧘‍♂️🏆

A late filing always costs more than getting ahead of the paperwork! 🧠🚀💰

"Small business survival isn't just about keeping the doors open—it's about staying financially resilient." 📈✨

Most business owners enter "survival mode" when revenue fluctuates or unexpected expenses pop up. But surviving (and actually thriving) usually comes down to how well you manage what happens behind the scenes:

💵 Cash Flow Discipline: Knowing your exact break-even point every single month so you never run blind

🏛️ Tax Preparedness: Setting aside CRA remittances continuously so year-end bills don't wipe out your reserves

📊 Margin Protection: Reviewing operating expenses regularly to cut waste and keep overhead lean

Survival is reactive. Financial clarity is proactive! 🧠☕💰

"What you don't know CAN hurt your business bottom line." 🛑

When you're busy running day-to-day operations, it's easy to assume everything is fine as long as money is coming in. But hidden financial blind spots are usually what eat away at profit margins behind the scenes:

🕵️‍♂️ Unclaimed Expenses: Missing out on legitimate write-offs simply because receipts weren't logged properly

📉 Creeping Overhead: Unused monthly software subscriptions and rising vendor fees slipping by unnoticed

🏛️ Tax Shortfalls: Underestimating CRA HST/GST or corporate tax obligations until the bill arrives

What you don't track, you can't manage. Shedding light on your true numbers gives you complete control over your business growth! 🧠🛡️✨
