Lease or buy a car in 2026? Here’s what Canadian physicians should know.
For doctors, the decision is not just about the monthly payment. Leasing, buying, and owning a vehicle through a corporation can each create different tax considerations, from deduction limits and CCA claims to business-use percentages, mileage logs, and taxable benefits.
Leasing may offer more flexibility and lower upfront costs, while buying may create stronger long-term value for physicians who plan to keep their vehicle. If the vehicle is owned through a corporation, the structure matters even more.
