We woke up this morning to another coating of ❄️snow❄️ in our area! It caught us by surprise - we are definitely hoping for some spring weather soon! 🌤️🌱🌸

It also made us think of our virtual tax return option, and how you can have your taxes done without ever needing to leave the house! (The option for dropping off your paperwork and getting an envelope back from us with a paper return isn't going anywhere though, if that's your preference.)

How does it work? Upload your documents to our secure portal using the button on our website labeled "Click here to submit documents electronically" on our income tax page: https://www.bhbs.ca/income-tax. We receive a notification when you upload your files and add them to our queue to prepare your return.

Once we have everything ready, we will email you with the results and send over your forms via DocuSign for electronic signature. If it's your first time working with us, we will also include identify verification via DocuSign where it will prompt you to show your photo ID and submit a video for the system to confirm your identity.

We'll send you a secure link to download your full tax package for your records and an invoice with your payment options (credit card or e-transfer) and that's it! ✅Taxes completed!

We’re here to make tax season as simple as possible for you. The choice is completely yours based on what you prefer and are most comfortable with.

E-filing opens Monday, February 23, 2026 for the 2025 tax season! We're ready - are you?

Not sure what documents you need to prepare your taxes? Need something to jog your memory to see if all your tax-related documents have arrived?

Each year we update our Tax Documents Checklist as a resource for you and include it in our annual tax client email. It lists the different types of income slips and highlights the more commonly applicable credits.

Nothing like a little afternoon tea to celebrate a joyful milestone! 💕☕️

The team at Beacon Heights swapped screens, spreadsheets and receipt stacks this week for scones, sandwiches, and lots of laughs as we celebrated our wonderful coworker, Stephanie, and her growing family.

We are so excited to welcome her new "highly koala-fied bookkeeper's assistant!" (Swipe for onesie cuteness.)

Important dates for the 2025 tax year!

February 23, 2026: E-filing opens for the 2025 tax year – each year, the CRA takes their e-filing system offline to change over for the new tax year; February 23 is the date they will re-open it and we can begin to file for 2025.

March 2, 2026: RRSP contribution deadline – while you can contribute to your RRSPs at any time, contributions made up to March 2, 2026 will still impact your 2025 taxable income.

April 30, 2026: Filing deadline for individuals – file by this date to avoid being charged interest and penalties on a balance owing and to prevent a disruption to any benefit or credit payments you receive.

June 15, 2026: Filing deadline for sole proprietors – if you or your spouse or common-law partner had a sole proprietor business in 2025, you both have a longer filing deadline. However, if you are going to have a balance owing, it still hast to be paid by April 30. So if you are a sole proprietor but not sure if you will end up with a refund or not, we recommend filing earlier.

Our annual tax client e-mail will be going out in mid-February with our updated client forms, a summary of what’s new/changed for 2025 taxes, and information on how to get your tax documents to us including our convenient fully virtual/electronic option and physical paperwork drop off instructions. The choice is yours!

Happy New Year from the Beacon Heights Business Solutions team!

We're grateful to have spent this past year working alongside our clients who achieved new milestones, expanded their businesses, and turned goals into real results. Your growth and success inspire everything we do, and we're proud to be part of the journey. 2025 also marked our own 10 year anniversary where many of you joined us at our Family Fun Night to help us celebrate in style!

Beacon Heights grew in 2025 as well with two new team members, Coral and Bonnie. And we are excited with Stephanie to welcome her new addition in 2026 (our first Beacon Heights baby!). We were happy to celebrate the Christmas season together with everyone and their partners last month at our favorite restaurant, Three-Six Kitchen.

Here's to even more progress, momentum, and shared success in 2026!

We are happy to announce that a new team member has joined Adam, Shelby, Megan, Stephanie and Coral at Beacon Heights Business Solutions. Bonnie Louvelle has joined us in the role of Jr. Bookkeeper!

Bonnie joins our team with an education in business accounting. Over the course of her career, she has built strong operational and organizational abilities in her past roles. Bonnie has a genuine passion for supporting entrepreneurs and is excited to work alongside our clients as they grow to help them succeed.

Bonnie is working closely with Stephanie in preparation for Stephanie's maternity leave beginning in February, 2026. Welcome to the team!

We will be updating our prices as follows, effective January 1, 2026. Prices are per return and will still include HST.

• Personal, standard - $75
• Personal, rental income - $150
• Sole proprietor - $175

We are hiring! Beacon Heights is seeking a service-minded, motivated individual to join our team as a Junior Bookkeeper. This is a part-time (approximately 15-20 hrs/week) contract position to cover an 18-month maternity leave. Although this is a part-time position to start, there is opportunity for growth for the right candidate as well as potential for permanent employment at the conclusion of the contract.

As the start to the new school year fast approaches, we wanted to shout out to all the amazing teachers and educators out there! Thank you for your passion and dedication in what can be a very challenging field of work and we hope you have an awesome school year.

Did you know there is a school supply tax credit for teachers and early childhood educators? You can claim up to $1,000 of eligible supplies for your classrooms that you paid for out of pocket, of which you will get back 25% (up to $250). So make sure you keep your receipts to tally up at tax time next year!

Thank you to everyone who came out last night to celebrate our 10 year anniversary! Ice cream was enjoyed, the inflatables were a hit and kids left covered in fun tattoos. We’re so grateful to our community that has grown with us over the past decade!
