Messages like this make my day.
Helping clients navigate adjustments and get the results they deserve is exactly why I love what I do.

This result came from adjustments and claiming the Disability Tax Credit (DTC). Many people don’t realize the DTC can often be back-claimed for up to 10 years if someone qualifies, which can result in significant refunds when past returns are adjusted.

A quick tax tip from my walk today — because tax season doesn’t stop just because the sun is out. If you’re getting your documents together, this might help😊

📦 Moved to Alberta in 2024? You could be eligible for $5,000

Alberta has introduced a $5,000 refundable tax credit (often called the Moving / Attraction Bonus) for individuals who moved to Alberta between May 1 and December 31, 2024 and work in certain eligible trades and construction-related occupations.

You may qualify if you:
✔️ Moved to Alberta during that period
✔️ Are a tax resident of Alberta as of December 31, 2024
✔️ Have lived in Alberta for at least 12 months at the time of application
✔️ Work full-time (employee or self-employed) in one of 62 eligible occupations
✔️ Meet the remaining eligibility requirements

⏳ Important: This credit is time-sensitive. If you moved in 2024, the window to apply is limited — don’t leave this one too late.

💡 This is a refundable tax credit, meaning you may receive it even if you don’t owe tax.

If you moved to Alberta in 2024 and work in the trades, this is definitely worth checking. Reach out if you’d like us to review eligibility as part of your tax filing.

Tax Tip: Consider Year-End Purchases

If you’re a business owner, certain purchases made before December 31 (equipment, tools, software, vehicles, etc.) may qualify for capital cost allowance sooner.

If you’re not sure whether something qualifies, ask first — we’ll make sure it’s the right move.

🎄 Tax Tip: Maximize Your RRSP Contributions

Thinking ahead to tax season?
Year-end is a great time to review your income and consider topping up your RRSP. A contribution made now can reduce your 2025 taxable income — and future you will thank you. Contribution deadline is March 3, 2026.

If you’re unsure how much room you have, check your CRA My Account or send me a message and I can help you estimate what makes sense.

✨ Wishing you a joyful and stress-free lead-up to the holidays!

Our little holiday helper wants to remind anyone who pays CRA tax instalments that your December 15 instalment is due!

If you expect your 2025 tax bill to be lower than originally estimated, you can adjust your payment — but don’t skip it entirely. Missing an instalment may lead to interest charges, even if you end up overpaid later.

If you’re unsure what you should send, feel free to reach out — we’re happy to help you estimate the amount.

Stay cozy, stay organized, and check this off your list before things get busy.😉✨

⭐ Tax Tip: Don’t Forget Your Donation Receipts!

If you made charitable donations this year, don’t miss out — they can give you a big tax break.

Here’s what you should know:

✔️ You get both federal and provincial tax credits
✔️ First $200 of donations → smaller credit
✔️ Anything above $200 → much higher credit (bigger savings!)
✔️ You can combine donations with your spouse for the best result
✔️ You can carry donations forward for up to 5 years

Important:
You need official donation receipts from registered Canadian charities. Screenshots from GoFundMe or small fundraisers don’t count unless the charity issued a proper receipt.

A few minutes of organizing receipts can mean hundreds of dollars in tax savings.

Want help calculating how much your donations will save you? I can do that too!

⭐ Tax Tip: Don’t Miss the Disability Tax Credit (DTC)

The Disability Tax Credit is one of the most valuable credits in Canada — but tons of people who qualify never apply.

If you or a family member has a long-term physical or mental impairment that affects daily living (walking, dressing, seeing, hearing, mental functions, etc.), you might be eligible.

Here’s why it matters:

✔️ Reduces your taxes owing — often by thousands
✔️ Can be transferred to a spouse or supporting family member
✔️ Can be claimed retroactively for up to 10 years
✔️ Helps open the door to other programs (like the RDSP)

The credit is not based on income — it’s based on the level of impairment and how it affects daily life.

If you think you may qualify, talk to your doctor or nurse practitioner and submit Form T2201 to the CRA.
