What a night!
I woke up this morning thinking less about The Pinnacle Award and more about the room I had the privilege of being in last night.
The Pinnacle Award went to my friend Dr. Jenn Bossio, and I could not be happier for her. Jenn’s work through Tri Health Clinic is deeply human and incredibly important, helping people navigate sexual health, intimacy and relationships while challenging the stigma that can surround those conversations.
Jenn was also one of the speakers at our ELEVATE.her. event last September, so having had the opportunity to watch her share her knowledge, her voice and her passion with our community made it even more special to see her recognized last night.
So very deserving, Jenn. I am incredibly proud of you. ❤️
I also want to acknowledge every one of the remarkable women who were nominated, and really, all of the amazing women who filled that room last night.
One of the things Shari Hughson spoke about last night has stayed with me. Women face unique challenges in business, and we rarely really know what another woman is carrying or dealing with behind the scenes.
My own career has certainly not been a straight line. It was built in the middle of real life. Raising four children on my own, navigating some difficult seasons, and taking chances when I wasn’t entirely sure where they would lead.
Through all of it, one thing has remained constant for me:
People Matter.
The relationships we build. The people we bring with us. The opportunity to mentor and support others. The difference we can make in our community. Those are the things that have always made success meaningful to me.
And if there is one thing I hope my children and grandchildren have learned from watching my journey, it is that your circumstances never have to determine what comes next.
You can choose what comes next.
Thank you to the Greater Kingston Chamber of Commerce for creating a space to recognize and celebrate those stories. Thank you to the incredible people who showed up to share that evening with me. And again, congratulations, Jenn. So well deserved. ❤️
