🎉 Hamilton’s Labour Day Parade dates back to 1883, inspired by the Nine Hour Movement of 1872. What began as a solemn march soon became a beloved family tradition in the 1890's, complete with picnics and BBQs at the Bayfront. Over 140 years later, it remains an event cherished by many Hamiltonians! 💪

I hope you’ll join us tomorrow - whether by marching in the parade or by lining the streets along the route with fellow Hamiltonians, cheering loudly and proudly for our city’s enduring spirit of labour.

The parade begins at 10:30 a.m. at the corner of Bay Street North and Stuart Street, with participants invited to assemble and sign in beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Following the parade, everyone is welcome to head to Bayfront Park for a community picnic from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Admission is free, and the entire community is invited to come out, celebrate our history, and show their Hamilton pride!

I am thankful that I can walk so I can help others

72 km. Two days. One important cause.

72 km may sound like an incredibly long way to walk over two days. But for us, it’s a challenge we’ve chosen to take on again this year. For many men in our community, the challenges they face each day are far greater — and often about simply finding a path forward.

As Gord and I continue training for The Long Walk Home, on October 1 and 2, 2026, we’re incredibly grateful for the support of the YMCA Hamilton | Burlington | Brantford and the difference they make in the lives of men in our community.

Through the Men’s Residence, for example, the YMCA partners with St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton to provide residents with access to both an addiction worker and a mental health care worker. Combined with intensive case management, this support can help individuals navigate and overcome challenges including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, addiction, and so much more.

That’s why we’re walking.

Every kilometre is a reminder that no one should have to face these challenges alone. And we want these men to realize they're NOT alone.

Please consider supporting our walk. More information about this event is detailed at www.ymcahbb.ca/long-walk-home-2026 for details. Just look for Gord and I as participants.

Thank you for walking alongside us — whether that means putting one foot in front of the other or simply sharing our message. Every bit of support matters. ❤️ Thank you so much. instability

Hamilton has just welcomed a new affordable housing development - in Ward 7! The groundbreaking at 525 Stone Church Road East took place yesterday and will deliver 107 new permanently affordable homes for Hamiltonians.

Praise for everyone who has been a part of making this dearly needed development happen, including everyone at the City, provincial and federal government partners, all those involved at Victoria Park Community Homes, and neighbouring Ward 7 residents for their patience during construction. Hamilton needs housing and Victoria Park's Ward 7 housing is well worth celebrating!
