🎉 Hamilton’s Labour Day Parade dates back to 1883, inspired by the Nine Hour Movement of 1872. What began as a solemn march soon became a beloved family tradition in the 1890's, complete with picnics and BBQs at the Bayfront. Over 140 years later, it remains an event cherished by many Hamiltonians! 💪
I hope you’ll join us tomorrow - whether by marching in the parade or by lining the streets along the route with fellow Hamiltonians, cheering loudly and proudly for our city’s enduring spirit of labour.
The parade begins at 10:30 a.m. at the corner of Bay Street North and Stuart Street, with participants invited to assemble and sign in beginning at 9:00 a.m.
Following the parade, everyone is welcome to head to Bayfront Park for a community picnic from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Admission is free, and the entire community is invited to come out, celebrate our history, and show their Hamilton pride!
