Are you a small business owner who wants to actually understand the numbers in your business?

Are you a bookkeeper or admin staff who wants to get more efficient in QBO or want to finally feel confident navigating it?

This one's for you.

I'm offering a QuickBooks Online Level 1 course built around the things that matter most. Understanding what's happening in your business financially so you can ask better questions, catch problems earlier, and stop feeling lost in your own books.

📚 Here's what Level 1 covers:
• Basic navigation so you actually know where things are
• Creating and sending invoices
• Tracking your expenses
• Reconciling your bank account
• Reading your financial statements and understanding what they're telling you

🇨🇦 This course is built for Canadian small businesses — and since it's fully virtual, it's open to anyone across Canada, not just here in Nova Scotia.

20 hours of live virtual instruction. Small group. Practical.

📅 Targeting a late August / early September start once we hit minimum enrollment we'll lock in the dates.

💰 Investment: $497 per person

If this sounds like something you (or someone on your team) could use, send me a message and let's talk. Spots are limited and I'd love to have you in the next cohort.

This post is for personal tax filers. Small business filers you have until June 15.

With April 30 approaching, I just want to remind you that if you have not filed your taxes yet, please do not worry.

Life can throw curveballs, and sometimes important things slip through the cracks. That happens more often than people think.

The good news is that there is still help, and even if you end up filing after April 30, it is not the end of the road.

I specialize in helping late filers and people who are multiple years behind. My goal is to make the process feel manageable, not stressful. Just one step at a time.

Drop by and one of our friendly staff will help you get started.

Please use this number going forward for all business calls and messages.

Thank you for being part of the journey. I truly appreciate your support.

Tax Season Tip: Moving Expenses

Have you moved to Nova Scotia? Or moved within the province in 2025 for a new job, a new work location, or to attend school? Moving expenses may be claimable (the move generally needs to bring you at least 40 km closer). So your new home you are moving to needs to be 40 km closer to your new work than what your old home was.

Here’s what to gather before you come in:

1. Old address, new address, new work address, and your move date

2. Reason for the move (new job, job transfer, or school)

3. Very important: Proof of the new job/school and start date (offer letter / contract / enrollment)

4. Income details tied to the new location (T4, pay stubs, or other income earned after the move)

5. Receipts for moving costs you paid (moving company/truck rental, fuel, meals/lodging while travelling, storage, packing supplies, etc.) Some of these do not need to be used if the simplified method is being used.

6. Home sale agreement (closing/statement of adjustments if you have it)

7. Home purchase agreement (closing/statement of adjustments if you have it) This helps us report the sale properly and claim the Principal Residence Exemption when it applies if you have had to sell your old home.

New look. New season.
I’ve been working behind the scenes on a rebrand, and it’s officially live.

Same focus on solid work and steady support. All with a clearer look and feel that better matches where things are headed.

Thank you for being here.

Small business owners… be honest 😄
Do you have a shoebox of receipts living somewhere in your office/car/kitchen drawer?

Because listen. If you bring me the shoebox, I can take care of it. And no I don't mean lighting it on fire. Sometimes we feel like but I actually love this kind of work and I would hate to see all your files going up in smoke.

So, you’ve got two options:

1. Bring the shoebox to me and I’ll sort it, add it up, organize it properly, and plug it into your tax return so you can stop stressing and get it done. ✅

2. Save yourself some money by doing a bit of sorting first (even basic organizing helps a lot), and then I’ll take it from there.

3. Or you can just bury your head in the sand over it and not get it down at all. Oh wait sorry. I said two options. So disregard this option all together. Go back to one or two.

Either way, I’m here to help you get from “receipt chaos” to tax season clarity.

RRSP deadline is coming fast.
If you’re planning to use RRSP contributions to reduce your 2025 taxable income, the cutoff is Monday, March 2, 2026.

A quick follow-up meeting can help you:

confirm your available RRSP room

decide what contribution amount actually helps (and doesn’t overdo it)

make sure your receipts and reporting are clean for tax filing

Book your RRSP follow-up now so you’re not scrambling at the last minute.
