Time to Review Your Retirement Contributions!
As we begin to approach the end of the year, it’s crucial to take a moment to assess your retirement savings. Are you on track to meet your financial goals for retirement? This is the perfect time to evaluate your contributions and make any necessary adjustments.
🔍 Here are a few key steps to consider:
Check Your Contribution Limits: Are you maximizing your RRSP and TFSA contributions? For 2026, the RRSP annual contribution limit is $33,810 (or 18% of your 2025 earned income, whichever is lower) and the TFSA annual contribution limit is $7,000. Your personal contribution room may differ based on factors such as unused contribution room carried forward from previous years, your 2025 earned income, pension adjustments, and any TFSA withdrawals made in 2025 that were added back to your contribution room on January 1, 2026. Check your latest CRA Notice of Assessment or CRA My Account for your available contribution room. If you have unused contribution room, consider increasing your contributions to help achieve your long-term financial goals.
Evaluate Your Investment Strategy: Are your investments aligned with your retirement goals? Review your asset allocation and consider rebalancing if necessary. Diversifying your portfolio can help mitigate risks and enhance growth potential.
Assess Your Retirement Timeline: Have your retirement plans changed? Whether you’re planning to retire early or later than expected, adjusting your contributions now can make a significant difference in your financial security.
