Tax Tip Tuesday: CRA is changing how businesses access Business Registration Online ⬇️

As of July 14, 2026, businesses will need to access the CRA’s Business Registration Online (BRO) through their CRA account.

BRO is used to:
• Register for a Business Number (BN)
• Open GST/HST and payroll accounts
• Add CRA program accounts to an existing BN

The CRA says registering online provides a faster, more secure process, with BN and program account numbers available immediately after registration.

What should you do? Make sure you can access your CRA account before you need to register a business or add a program account.

Some exceptions apply, so check the CRA’s Business Registration Online requirements if you’re unsure which registration method applies to you.
