The reality? Most business owners don’t reach out until their books are already in rough shape.

We’re here to change that.

Bookkeeping isn’t just data entry.

It’s a system. A process.

A core part of your business that deserves attention before it turns into a crisis.

Whether you need support quarterly or just a check-in a few times a year, the most important thing is not doing it alone.

Find someone you trust. Ask questions. Get support.

We’re here if you need help!

Getting a CRA review or audit does NOT automatically mean you’ve done something wrong!

Sometimes the CRA just needs more information to support what you reported on your tax return. 🤷‍♀️

But a few things that can flag their system are:

Income that doesn’t match T-slips (like T4s, T5s, or T2125 reporting)
High or unusual deductions compared to similar small businesses
Repeated business losses year after year with no clear trend toward profit
Mismatches between GST/HST filings and reported income

These can all be completely legitimate but the key is making sure you have the receipts, records, and clean bookkeeping to back everything up if CRA asks.

At the end of the day, it’s not about avoiding taxes, it’s about being able to support your numbers confidently if they’re reviewed.

A lot of small business owners in Canada hear about luxury vehicle write-offs and follow this logic ↓

heavy vehicle → depreciation → lower taxes

And yes within CRA rules, certain business-use vehicles can be depreciated over time through Capital Cost Allowance (CCA).

But what often gets missed is what happens when you actually sell the vehicle later on.

It’s not just about what you paid vs. what you sold it for…

That CCA you claimed over the years can get recaptured and added back as taxable income 💸 (if the sale price is higher than the remaining undepreciated value).

So while you may reduce taxes in the short term, it can come back into play at disposal.

Is it worth it? That depends on your business use, cash flow, and long-term tax planning and it’s definitely something to review with your accountant before making big purchases.

Running a business comes with highs, lows, and unexpected turns.

One of the best ways to stay prepared?

Have a solid cash buffer in place.

You should be saving at least 3 to 6 months of business expenses especially if you're self-employed or run a service-based business.

Why? Because:

✅ Clients come and go
✅ Emergencies happen
✅ Opportunities pop up

It’s not just about surviving slow seasons, it’s about giving your business room to breathe and grow without panic.
