Last week Jeff joined 34 Wealth Advisors and Portfolio Managers from across Canada in Ireland for a Due Diligence trip to the Dublin Head Office of Irish Life and Keyridge Asset Management. Following portfolio discussions they had the opportunity to meet with Executives from both Diageo (owners of Guinness, Captain Morgan, Smirnoff, Crown Royal, among other well known brands) and the Irish airline- Ryan Air. The Portfolio Manager discussions with Keyridge revolved around tariffs, oil, European Union, all things Trump (including how to manage the T.A.C.O trade as the Irish PM’s call it: (Trump Always Chickens Out) and derivative strategies to reduce portfolio risk. Diageo and Ryan Air explained their business models and how they are positioning to take advantage of changes in their respective industries and how financial performance will improve. At the time of the visit, both Diageo and Ryan Air are current holdings in the various Keill Portfolio’s through an active sleeve managed by Keyridge or in certain Vanguard holdings. Thank you to Irish Life for hosting us in their new building and to Diageo for the private tour and the use of their boardroom in the Guinness Storehouse. Slainte!
