Wait… what if your “competition” is actually someone you’re meant to cheer for? 🤔
This week at a Chamber lunch, someone asked, “So, that other advisor at IG… she’s your competition?”
My response? “Kinda… but not really.”
Yes, we do the same job and work in the same industry. We may want to work with the same clients, but she’s also an amazing human—and I’d be genuinely happy for anyone who chooses to work with her.
But aren’t we supposed to compete? 🤷♀️
NEWS FLASH! 🚨 We can actually cheer each other on!
I can celebrate my colleague across the hall finding her niche, promote her events, and even assist with her presentations.
And guess what? Her success doesn’t take away from mine.
After 24 years in this industry, I’ve learned something important: there’s room for more than one person to succeed. We all bring different strengths, personalities, and perspectives to the table.
I’d much rather work in a hallway full of people cheering each other on than one where everyone keeps score.
Because when we support each other, we don’t just build stronger businesses. We build a better community. ❤️
And isn’t that what it’s really about?
So tell me… when did we decide that supporting someone else meant competing with ourselves?
