For years people have asked me why my practice is so stable and why my clients stay so loyal.

The truth is simple: I was never just interested in numbers.

Yes, I am a tax specialist and financial advisor. I understand tax strategy, investments, and how money really works. But over the years I’ve learned that conversations about money are rarely just about money.

TEACHER'S STRIKE: WHAT PARENTS CAN DO:
According to official statements from the Government of Alberta, the Parent Support Payment Program — the $30-per-day support for families affected by the province-wide teachers’ strike — is not taxable income for parents.

You do not need to report it as taxable income on your federal or provincial tax return.

The payment is intended as a non-taxable benefit to help families pay for childcare, meals, tutoring or other costs while schools are closed.
It is treated similarly to other non-taxable benefits in Canada, such as certain emergency relief payments.
This clarification was confirmed by a spokesperson from Alberta’s Ministry of Education shortly after the strike began — the program is designed as a tax-free support measure rather than taxable assistance.
