THE PRACTICE
The accounting business commenced in 1994 from a home based office. In February 2003 the business rented premises in Mary Street and remained there until March 2008. In April 2008 the business moved across the road to 24 Mary Street Yeppoon to premises, which it acquired and renovated to make it into the office that we see today. er firm with just Charron as the principal to having 3 other members of the firm, including accounting, audit staff and administration staff. THE PRACTICE MEMBERS:
CHARRON MEARNS
Charron is a FCPA and is the principal accountant and business owner. She has had over 37 years experience in the accounting profession. She started her accounting career in 1984 studying part-time whilst working full time at a Chartered Accounting firm in Rockhampton. This 10-year career path led her to start her own business in Yeppoon in 1994 where she operates under the Certified Practising Accountant banner as a public practice member of CPA Australia and Registered Tax Agent and is a Chartered Tax Adviser, a designation obtained through the Taxation Institute of Australia. Her experience is widely spread over many business types and business services. The public accounting firm background over the last 37 years has enabled her to build the knowledge necessary to provide a multitude of business services and meet the ever-growing needs of various business types. Charron offers all aspects of business taxation, accounting and advisory services. She also has a financial planning limited licence under her own AFSL # now required for Self Managed Superannuation Fund advice. JOELENE WATSON
Joelene is a qualified accountant within the firm, and has been here since July 2009. Joelene commenced her professional career some 8 years prior where she was employed in both an administrative and accounting role with a local Medical Practice. She is our IT co-ordinator and has proficiencies in Xero, Quickbooks, Reckon Accounts and MYOB accounting programmes. She specialises in business taxation and the accounting associated with small businesses. Her position in this practice is a multifaceted one involving all aspects of compliance work for accounting and taxation clients. Joelene is responsible for tasking jobs and co-ordinating workflow for tax work and BAS related work for the office to meet various lodgement deadlines during the tax year and organises the timeline for work within the office. CHEROKEE CHALK
Cherokee is a technical staff member of the team and specialises in rental properties and individual tax returns. She also has the task of being the team member responsible for co-ordination and performance of the various audits that the firm is involved in. Her proficiencies have been gained on the job over many years working in the accounting and the real estate sectors. As a multi-skilled team member she has the added responsibilities of co-ordination of client appointments, processing of mail and assisting other accounting staff members with technical processing tasks. VICTORIA GILLIES
Victoria is a trainee accountant, and currently is studying externally for a degree in accounting/ business at CQU. She is also training to be the top of her sport as a triathlete. We are very proud of her achievements to date and have no doubt with her enthusiasm for both accounting and sport she will achieve many goals in both.
