Done your tax return yet? If you're running a small business, here are a few deductions that are easy to miss, worth checking before you lodge for FY26.
🗄 Buying equipment for the business? The instant asset write-off lets you claim up to $20,000 per asset straight away this year (turnover under $10 million).
🏠 Running your business from home? The fixed rate for home running costs is 70c per hour, just keep a record of your hours.
🛻 Using your car for work? Cents-per-km is 88c for FY26, up to 5,000km without individual receipts, or use a logbook if you drive more than that.
💰 Paying super for your employees? It's only deductible once it's actually paid, not just accrued, timing matters here.
🖥 Training or courses that build skills for your business can often be claimed.
🪙 Bank fees and interest on business loans or finance are generally deductible.
📸 Marketing and advertising spend counts too, socials, signage, print, the lot.
📘 What you paid your accountant or bookkeeper for last year's return is claimable this year.
Not sure which of these apply to your business? That's exactly the kind of thing we help with.
