Payday super is coming. Are you ready?
From 1 July 2026, super won’t be a quarterly task anymore.
It will be due at the same time as wages.
For employers, this changes the rhythm of cashflow.
What we are seeing already:
• Wages budgeted, super forgotten
• Payroll set up for quarterly habits
• Cash buffers that work on paper, not in real life
Payday super is not just a compliance update.

Super is changing. Are your payroll systems ready?

From 1 July 2026, super must be paid on payday, not quarterly.
That means:
• Super is paid every pay run
• Payments must reach the fund within 7 business days
• Quarterly catch‑ups disappear
• Payroll and cashflow timing matter more
For many businesses, this is not a small change.

We’ve put together a short video that explains what Payday Super means in practice and what to review before July 2026. Link below👇

Many owners tell us the same thing. Sales are rising, work is steady, the team is busy, yet the bank balance feels tight.
This is common when a business grows before its systems do.
A few checks help you see what is really happening.
Look at margins for your main services.
Track cash for the next eight weeks, not just this week.
Review wages as a percentage of sales, not only in dollars.
List tasks that now slow you down because the business is bigger.

🚗 FBT Year-End Reminder: Odometer Readings Needed

The FBT year ends on 31 March, which means it’s time to record odometer readings for any vehicles subject to Fringe Benefits Tax.

📸 What you need to do:
• Take a clear photo of the odometer reading as at 31 March
• Make sure the date is recorded
• Keep the photo for your FBT records (or send it through to us)

This information is required to correctly calculate business vs private use for FBT purposes. Missing or incorrect readings can cause delays or issues when preparing your FBT return.

If you’re unsure whether a vehicle is subject to FBT, or need help with your FBT obligations, please get in touch.

🔧 March Check-In for Tradies: How Are the Numbers Tracking?

You’re flat out on the tools, jobs are rolling in, and paperwork usually sits at the bottom of the list. But March is actually one of the best times of year to stop and check how the business side is tracking.

A quick review now can save a lot of stress later.

🔍 Worth checking this month:
• Are invoices going out on time and getting paid?
• Is cash flow keeping up with fuel, materials and wages?
• Are BAS, super and payroll up to date?
• Have you kept records for tools, vehicle, and work expenses?

Catching issues early gives you options. Leaving it until June usually doesn’t.

If you want a quick check-in or help getting things straight before EOFY ramps up, we’re here to help.

🚗 FBT Myth: Utes Are Always Exempt – Not Quite

We often hear, “It’s a ute, so there’s no FBT.”
Unfortunately, that’s not always true.

While many utes and commercial vehicles can be exempt from FBT, the exemption only applies if private use is limited.

🔍 What matters:
• The vehicle must be mainly designed to carry goods
• Private use must be limited to travel between home and work
• Any additional private use should be minor, infrequent and irregular

🚨 Using the ute for regular personal trips, school runs, or weekends away can trigger FBT, even if it’s a work vehicle.

The details matter, and this is an area the ATO looks at closely 🔍.

If you’re unsure whether your vehicle use is exempt, it’s worth checking before FBT time.

📅 March Check-In: A Smart Time to Review Your Tax Position

March is a great point in the year to pause and see how things are tracking — while there’s still time to make changes before EOFY.

A short review now can help avoid last-minute pressure in June.

🔍 Worth checking this month:
• Are you likely to owe tax, or are you heading for a refund?
• Is your cash flow holding up as expected?
• Are super and payroll obligations up to date?

Early planning gives you options. Leaving it until June often doesn’t.

If you’d like a quick check-in or some guidance on what to focus on before EOFY, we’re happy to help.

📢 ATO Payday Super Changes – Coming July 2026

From July 2026, employers will need to pay super at the same time as wages, rather than quarterly.

This is a significant change and will affect:
• Payroll processes
• Cash flow timing
• Reporting obligations
• How payroll software is set up

🔍 What businesses should do now:
✔️ Review payroll and super processes
✔️ Check whether your software is ready
✔️ Plan for the cash flow impact
✔️ Allow time to make changes well before the deadline

Getting organised early will make this transition much smoother.

If you’d like help reviewing your payroll setup or planning for the change, we’re happy to assist.

📅 End of February Check-In: Don’t Let the Year Slip Away

It’s easy for the financial year to get away from you — but the end of February is a great point to pause and check how things are tracking.

A quick review now can help you avoid surprises later.

🔍 Worth checking before March starts:
• Is your cash flow keeping up with expenses?
• Are your BAS and payroll up to date?
• Have you kept records for deductions so far this year?
• Are you likely to owe tax — or could planning now reduce it?

We help clients spot issues early, not after the damage is done.

If you’d like a quick check-in or second set of eyes on your numbers, we’re here to help.
