A new scam protection feature has been added to the ATO app. If you receive a call from someone claiming to be from the ATO:
1. Login to the ATO app.
2. Click on "Verify call" on the main screen.
3. Press the "Verify call" button.
4. If the caller is not verified by the ATO app, hang up straight away.

From 1 July the rules for paying employee super are changing. Is your small business ready?
Instead of quarterly payments every 28th October, January, April and July, employers must process super at the same time as salaries and wages are paid, and funds must be received by the employees’ super funds within 7 days.

The ATO has identified common errors made by rental property owners on their tax returns:
• Reporting net rent instead of gross rent.
• Omitting properties from returns.
• Shared ownership properties not being reported on every owner’s return.
• Not reporting residual rent when a property is purchased for the new owner to move in.
• Capital items being claimed as repairs and maintenance.
