Managing a good operation and running a good business are not the same thing. A good operation is an essential part of a good business but a good business is also reliable, predictable and sustainable.
Owners spend years placing their trust in good, (but the wrong) people HOPING for them to turn a profit at the end of the day
They are the wrong people because business management is an expert skill, it’s not merely a job title on an organisation chart handed out as a reward for effort and attitude.
Understanding the technical work of the business is different from understanding the business that does the technical work. Michael Ge**er calls this the Fatal Assumption that most entrepreneurs make.
Many businesses simply do not possess the in-house capability (skills and experience) to implement their plans and seize opportunities.
Imagine the possibilities of combining your good operation with some top shelf strategic and commercial financial leadership, but only pay for it when you use it.
Now stop imagining and do something proactive about it !
