The ASX 200 closed the week at 8,804, up about 2.1%, its best week in two months. Falling oil and renewed Iran peace optimism lifted markets globally, while at home a softer run of data has investors positioning for an RBA pause.
Our view: markets are pricing two outcomes that are still being negotiated. The rally is real, but it rests on a deal that has not been signed and a decision the Reserve Bank has not yet made. Weeks like this reward discipline over conviction.
