There were definitely a few teary moments in the speeches, and the atmosphere in the room was really special.

We were delighted to be joined by our CA ANZ President, Naomi Walsh FCA FAICD, who addressed members and presented the certificates. It’s always fantastic to have her involved in our events.

Earlier this month we celebrated our Otago New Members, Milestones, Certificate of Public Practice recipients, University Student awards and Otago Fellowship in an evening that can only be described as electric. ⚡

With 130 attendees gathering in the Dunedin Town Hall, we recognised 25- and 50-year milestone recipients as well as 20 new members.

We saw friends and family come together to support the hard work of our members, new and current alike, as well as those who represent the future of the accounting industry.

It was also a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our South Island Young CA of 2025, Monique McKewen CA, who was dually awarded with her Certificate of Public Practice.

We also celebrated Otago's newest fellow, Kyle Cameron FCA, Partner at Deloitte. His fellowship is a reflection of his significant contribution to the profession and is a powerful peer-to-peer recognition tool that we were very fortunate to celebrate with Kyle.

Congratulations to all who were recognised on the night! 💫

Could a CA be the next MC? 😮👏

A huge congratulations to Petro Papathomas, a Melbourne-based CA ANZ member, who’s currently competing on MasterChef Australia

Good food has always been part of the fabric of Petro’s family life. With a Greek/Cypriot background, his love of cooking began early - learning by watching his mum and his grandmothers in the kitchen. From there, he’s spent countless hours perfecting his halloumi recipe and developing a deep passion for Greek and Mediterranean flavours.

From balancing the books to plating up under pressure, Petro is showing that CAs bring creativity, discipline and passion to everything they do - even in the MasterChef kitchen.

Let’s get behind one of our own and cheer Petro on as the competition heats up. Good luck, Petro, we’re cheering you on every step of the way 🧑‍🍳💙
