It's been a fantastic week celebrating member achievements across Asia as 2026 CA ANZ President, Naomi Walsh FCA FAICD Walsh visited Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong. ✨

Joined by Datuk Umar Swift, CA ANZ Asia Regional Councillor, and Samantha Chan FCA Chan, CA ANZ International Leader, Naomi had the privilege of presenting certificates to our newly qualified members, as well as recognising those celebrating remarkable membership milestones of 25, 40, 50 and even 60 years.

We also celebrated our newest Fellows across Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong, recognising their outstanding contributions to the profession and their communities.

A special congratulations to our regional Young CAs of the Year, including Lyn Au and Sally Ho, who exemplify what it means to make a meaningful difference through leadership, service and impact.

A heartfelt thank you to our Overseas Regional Councils and teams across Asia - Divian Gangnadharan and Elizabeth Chan for their dedication and commitment to supporting our members and helping our community thrive.

Earlier in August, we gathered in Invercargill for the Southland Celebration Ceremony 2026, recognising and celebrating the outstanding achievements of our local accounting community. 🎊

We were delighted to welcome 2 new Accounting Technicians and 12 new Chartered Accountants as they officially joined the profession.

The evening also recognised members reaching impressive membership milestones, including 25, 40, 60, and 70 years of CA ANZ membership. A special acknowledgement goes to those celebrating 60 and 70 years of membership, an extraordinary achievement and testament to their long-standing contribution to the profession.

We also celebrated members achieving their Certificate of Public Practice (CPP), another important milestone in a professional career.

Congratulations to the recipient of the Mervyn Gillick (Hiranga) Excellence Award, presented to the student who achieved the highest academic performance in Year 3 of the Bachelor of Accounting at the Southern Institute of Technology.

A special congratulations also to Greg Thomas FCA, who was recognised as Southland's newest Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA), acknowledging his significant contribution and service to the profession.

A sincere thank you to our CA ANZ Office Bearer, Simon Jones FCA, for travelling from Auckland to join us and support this special occasion. Your presence helped make the evening even more meaningful for those being recognised.

Today, 17 August, is Equal Pay Day in Australia. It marks the day when, on average, women have finally earned what men earned by 30 June.

What about in our profession? Haven’t we closed that gender pay gap? No, not yet… the current gender pay gap among Chartered Accountants in Australia is 14%, an improvement on last year but still requiring sustained focus and action.
